Welcome to KindRoots™

Hi, I’m Sanette

 – author of Emma and creator of the KindRoots™ series.

KindRoots™ began with my own story. I was adopted twice as a child, and those experiences shaped my life deeply. I faced many challenges; feeling unwanted, bullied, confused about who I was, and struggling with confidence. There was no real support between my first and second adoption, and I had to adjust to a new life without help or time to heal.

Emma is based on my journey. It shares the pain I went through, but also the strength I found. It’s a story of resilience, hope, and learning to forgive. It shows that even in hard times, healing is possible.

Because I know how tough adoption can be, especially when it’s not talked about early, I created a gentle, therapeutic toolbox to help families.

Workshops & Tools for Adoptive Parents

Once you have been approved as an adoptive parent and the adoption process is finalized, a new chapter begins, a life as a family. Adoption is a beautiful journey, but it also comes with unique challenges. These may include setting boundaries with extended family and friends, navigating interracial and cross‑cultural adoptions, understanding genetics and behavior, choosing parenting styles, deciding when and how to share your child’s story, and supporting identity development in the face of bullying or uncertainty.

The workshops I offer are grounded not only in my personal experiences but also in research and training through the NCFA Adoption Learning Hub and various local courses as professional coach.  The workshop can be facilitated in person or online.

The Adoption Journey Toolbox provides practical resources for parents & children aged 2–14. It includes books, guidelines, toys, and tools designed to help you support your child’s emotions, behaviours, and overall wellbeing. The tools are inclusive of various age groups and can be used regularly.  I offer coaching sessions for children 15 and older.
